June 22nd 2009

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Pearl - We are very sad to announce that our school secretary Pearl will be retiring this year after many years wonderful service to our school community. Pearl has been the welcoming face of our school for so long that it will be hard to imagine the office without her. I am sure I speak for everyone who knows her in expressing our sincere thanks for all the support she has given everyone in Lusk National School and we wish her every happiness in her retirement.

Summer Concerts - As mentioned in the last newsletter the summer concerts will take place this Wednesday and Thursday. Once each class is finished their production parents are welcome to take the children home. Unfortunately for Fire and Safety reasons children can not be brought from the classes back into the hall. All the children will have already seen the other classes perform.

Reports - Just a quick reminder to parents to send in a stamped addressed envelope so that reports can be posted promptly. Our report cards have been redesigned this year and include a space for standardized test scores. These scores can sometimes cause confusion. We have included an explanation note regarding the tests on the school website at www.lusknationalschool.org

Class Allocations - The class allocations for next year are attached to this sheet. I am sure every class will have a pleasant and productive year.

Book Rental - There seems to have been some confusion regarding the book lists this year. Please be assured that we are still operating the book rental scheme in the school and that school books are still available for rental as per usual. Please ensure that all book lists are returned as soon as possible to help Catherine and Donna manage the scheme.

6th Class - We will say goodbye to our present sixth classes this Friday the 25th of June. We hope they have enjoyed their past eight years as much as we have enjoyed having them. We wish them the very best next year in their new secondary schools.

Finally we would like to wish everyone a very enjoyable summer holiday and we look forward to seeing all the children back with us on Wednesday September 1st.

Regards,

Paul Comiskey
