June 16th 2010
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
As you know we are coming to the end of another very busy school year. June is always a particularly busy month. Below are a list of some of the activities ongoing in the school at present.
Book Lists - The book lists have been handed out to all the children this week and are to be returned by Wednesday the 23rd of June. We understand that there has been some confusion regarding the book rental scheme. Please be advised that the book rental scheme is still operating as per normal. The purchase price of books has only been included in the first price column to show the significant savings made by families because of the rental scheme. We would like to say a huge thank you once again to Catherine, Donna and Pearl who give so much of their time in the summer to run the scheme.
Summer Concerts - The summer concerts will take place on Wednesday the 23rd and Thursday the 24th of June this year. The children from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes will perform songs from Annie, Michael Jackson, Alvin and the Chipmunks and We Will Rock You. The shows give the children a great opportunity to practice and show off their singing, dancing and acting skills and it is amazing how some children really flourish in these areas of the arts curriculum. Tickets will be sold from Mrs. O'Connor's room on Friday the 18th, Monday the 21st and Tuesday the 22nd. Half the proceeds will go to a charity chosen by the boys and girls from 6th class and the remainder will purchase school equipment. Thanks to all the teachers for their hard work preparing the show and particularly to Ms. McCabe for coordinating the event.

Sport- Well done to all the boys and girls who competed in the Dublin Athletics Finals in Santry this year and to Ms. Talty who prepared them for their events. Thanks also to Ms. McCormack and Mr. Gleeson for organising our Junior and Senior Sports Days which the children thoroughly enjoyed. It was wonderful to see the children using every nook and cranny of the school to take part in various sporting activities.
Junior Infant Visits - Our new Junior Infant Classes came to visit the school this week. The children and parents got a chance to visit their new classroom and meet their class teachers for next year. They also had an opportunity to chat with members of the Parents Association.
Parents Association - I would like to thank the Parents Association for all their hard work throughout the year. They really do a huge amount of unseen work on behalf of the children. I would also like to welcome the new members of the Parents Association committee on board and look forward to working closely with them in the coming year.
Reports - We will be sending out the annual reports before the end of the school year. We would ask parents to give their child a stamped, addressed, envelope so that the report can be posted in a timely fashion.
6th Class We will soon be saying good bye to this year's 6th class. It is always sad to see another year move on. This group have added a huge amount to the life of the school and they will be greatly missed. We would also like to say thank you to any parents whose youngest child is now leaving us. I can think of several families who will be very much missed not only because their last child will have moved on but also because their parents were so supportive of the school throughout their child’s education here.
